Notre but est de montrer l’importance de la principale dynastie de l’histoire du cinéma. La lignée des Kapoor a été ininterrompue depuis maintenant cinq générations. Ils ont su rester en phase avec les changements intervenus depuis six décennies dans le cinéma indien, et notamment dans le cinéma hindi. Le patriarche et fondateur de la dynastie, Prithviraj Kapoor, a joué un rôle essentiel dans l’inspiration qu’allait suivre son fils, Raj. Le cinéma indien d’aujourd’hui est redevable à la fois au père et au fils. Tous deux ont été des novateurs et leur ouverture d’esprit a certainement contribué à façonner les techniques de jeu, sur scène et à l’écran.

This paper aims to show the importance of the foremost dynasty in the history of cinema. The Kapoors have maintained an uninterrupted lineage of five generations. They have succeeded in keeping up with the changes that have occurred over the past six decades in Indian, and particularly Hindi, cinema. The patriarch and founder of the dynasty, Prithviraj Kapoor’s contribution to acting and stage direction played an essential part in the extraordinary creative path that his son Raj was to follow. Indian cinema today most certainly is indebted to the contribution of both father and son. They have been innovators and their open-mindedness helped to shape the acting techniques on stage and screen.
