Résumé :

Bien qu'inspirés par des stars hollywoodiennes (Joan Crawford, Jennifer Jones, Lana Turner), des divas européennes (Anna Magnani, Sophia Loren) ou des icones latino-américaines (Sarita Montiel), les personnages féminins d'Almodovar  ne se résument pas à ces sources extérieures, auxquelles se joignent d'autres influences (romans-photos, bande dessinée, chansons populaires). Chaque nouveau film réinvente sans cesse une figure, chaque actrice paraissant se nourrir des précédentes, établissant une lignée propre, tantôt suggérée à l'intérieur d'un même film (Chus Lampreave, Carmen Maura et Penelope Cruz dans Volver) ou à travers un système d'échos d'un film à l'autre. Ainsi, on peut imaginer que le personnage de Cecila Roth dans Le Labyrinthe des passions n'est peut-être, rétrospectivement, que la mère de celui qu'elle joue dans Tout sur ma mère. Notre propos est de mettre à jour les principes fondateurs d'une telle généalogie.

Though inspired by Hollywood stars (Joan Crawford, Jennifer Jones, Lana Turner) as well as European divas (Anna Magnani, Sophia Loren) or Latin American icons (Sarita Montiel), Almodóvar’s female characters cannot be reduced to these outside sources, which shape them along with other influences (fumetti or photo romances, comic strips, popular songs). They eventually add up to an all-encompassing, totalizing figure endlessly reinvented with each new film, as the actresses embodying them seem to nurture one another, building up a lineage of their own that is suggested either within a single film (e. g. Chus Lampreave, Carmen Maura and Penelope Cruz in Volver) or through echoes from one film to another (thus, Cecilia Roth’s character in Labyrinth of Passion may be fantasized in retrospect as the mother of the character she plays in All About My Mother). This paper aims to investigate the founding principles of such a genealogy.
