Y a-t-il une différence américaine en philosophie ?
Résumé :
The author choses to approach the American musical in so far as it invites an extension of Austin’s speech act theory: what is at stake is then speech — not as action but — as passion. Such a hypothesis leads to a systematic analysis of the effects of the human voice. The author further emphasizes the need for philosophers to concentrate on specific works of art and to let them speak with their own voices within philosophical discourse. Art, beginning with tragedy, can be understood as part of the history of philosophy and possibly as part of today’s philosophy. This idea is here applied to a work of art that differs entirely from tragedy: a Hollywood musical.
