L’agglomération de Tyneside face aux dérèglements socio-économiques des cinq dernières décennies
Résumé :
Because of the nature of its industries and employment areas, which have shaped the local social universe down to this day, the Tyneside conurbation in North East England offers a valuable insight into the relationship between the socio-economic sphere and the legislation enacted by the UK state both to reduce the ills consequent upon the « creative destruction » that characterises capitalist development, and to help smooth the way for structural changes. This contribution aims in particular at defining the logics inherent in that type of interaction, at assessing whether it has delivered benefits or not, and at looking into the reasons why it has or has not.
