Violeta Ramirez
Abstract :
International audience
The documentary film Transition sous tension (Transition in tension, 2024, 53 minutes) offers an immersive and nuanced exploration of the environmental and social issues associated with plans to open a lithium mine in the Allier department. Over the course of a year, Violeta Ramirez conducted an ethnographic study, filming testimonies from local residents and observing reactions to the announcement of the mining project. Th ethnographic documentary is the result of this fieldwork. It captures the local controversy surrounding the project and, more broadly, shows how various stakeholders in the region perceive energy, environmental, and social issues in a context of climate change. This experience was part of an innovative research project at the intersection of anthropology, geography, and documentary filmmaking.
