Abstract :
International audience
This article examines the issue of patronymic transmission and its psychic repercussions through the study of a father-son homonymy arising from a traumatic conception. The text explores how the symbolic charge and the choice of signifiers assigned to a child can generate unconscious guilt and a symbolic debt. The analytical framework adopted by the author is rooted in a theoretical foundation guided by psychoanalysis, specifically Lacanian theory. The research demonstrates how a mother, by giving the first and last name of a transgressing progenitor upon her offspring, deposits un-symbolized negative affects. The child, becoming a receptacle for maternal bitterness and a reflection of the family trauma, incorporates this paternal sin and tends toward self-punishment by passively enduring various forms of violence and condemnation. On a clinical level, the paper outlines the therapeutic process that brought to light a mechanism akin to Freud’s repetition compulsion. It details the patient's progress through the stages of subjective differentiation and the distinct phases of the superego. Working through this within the analytic setting enables the subject to lay down this inherited guilt, address the trauma on the symbolic level, and gradually articulate their own voice while freeing themselves from the initial maternal assignment.
