This paper is an introduction to the issue of Habiter devoted to the theme of place. It takes a three-part approach. In the first part, the author sets out the issues at stake in terms of interdisciplinary crossovers, the word being equally relevant to urban planning, anthropology and psychoanalysis. In the second part, the place is approached through its grammatical declensions (to place, to be placed, to place oneself) in order to think about the movements or practices that make it; Finally, the third part unfolds a commentary on Italo Calvino's text on Genoa's Piazza Caricamento, presented as a triangle with two visible sides. How can we think about the function of the third side? Through its three parts, the paper demonstrates that a place cannot be thought of in isolation, but always in articulation with - at least - one other.

<div><p>Introduction au numéro d'Habiter consacré au thème de la place, ce texte l'aborde en trois temps. Dans une première partie l'auteur s'attache à exposer les enjeux du thème en termes de croisements interdisciplinaires, le mot relevant autant de l'urbanisme, de l'anthropologie et de la psychanalyse. Dans une seconde partie, la place est abordée au travers de ses déclinaisons grammaticales (placer, être placé, se placer) afin de penser les mouvements ou les pratiques qui la font ; Enfin, la troisième partie déploie un commentaire du texte d'Italo Calvino sur la Piazza Caricamento de Gênes, présentée comme un triangle à deux côtés visibles. Comment donc penser la fonction du troisième côté ? Au travers de ses trois parties, le texte démontre qu'une place ne se pense pas seule, mais toujours en articulation avec -au moins-une autre.</p></div>
