Abstract :

International audience

In an international context made more uncertain by the development of major armed conflicts and the arrival in power of a new administration in the United States, having adopted a hostile stance, the action of the World Health Organization has nevertheless continued thanks to the support of its member states. While the question of the origin of Covid-19 remains unresolved, the WHO has succeeded in having two fundamental texts adopted to strengthen international health security: the Amended International Health Regulations (2005) and the Agreement on Pandemics. Their rapid and effective implementation will be a major challenge for the years to come. At the same time, it has demonstrated its capacity to develop and evolve its activity, by taking initiatives at both the programmatic and operational levels.

Dans un contexte international rendu plus incertain du fait du développement de conflits armés majeurs et de l'arrivée au pouvoir d'une nouvelle Administration aux États-Unis, ayant adopté une posture hostile, l'action de l'Organisation Mondiale de la Santé s'est poursuivie néanmoins grâce à l'appui de ses États membres. Si la question de l'origine de la Covid-19 n'est toujours pas tranchée, l'OMS a réussi à faire adopter deux textes fondamentaux pour conforter la sécurité sanitaire internationale : le Règlement Sanitaire International ( 2005) Amendé et l'Accord sur les pandémies. Leur mise en oeuvre rapide et efficace sera un enjeu majeur pour les années à venir. Dans le même temps, elle a montré sa capacité à développer et à faire évoluer son activité, en prenant des initiatives aussi bien sur le plan programmatoire qu'opérationnel.
