Third edition of the Complex Day: more than 70 participants, 21 oral presentations and two award-winning presentations !
Each year, the “Complex Systems” Academy organizes the Complex Day, a scientific day which aims to promote exchanges within the community of complex systems.
For this third edition, just over 70 researchers from the Côte d'Azur community gathered on February 7, 2023 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Nice.
The event was co-hosted by Jérémie Bec (Cemef), Mathieu Desroches (Inria), Mireille Bossy (Inria) and Médéric Argentina (Inphyni).
The participants in the one-day event represented more than ten laboratories and research institutes of Université Côte d'Azur, reflecting the highly interdisciplinary nature of the activities of the Academy.
More than twenty oral presentations were given on widely varying topics, ranging from very fundamental aspects of physics, mathematics or computer science, to concrete applications in economics, neurosciences, or agronomy.
The Complex Day was also the opportunity for a dozen doctoral students to come and promote their research work and to exchange with researchers from various backgrounds.
The event ended with the selection of the two best student oral presentations by members of the Scientific Council of the “Complex Systems” Academy.
The two following doctoral students were congratulated for the quality of their oral presentation:
- Simone Ebert (Inria) - Temporal pattern recognition in retinal ganglion cells is mediated by dynamic inhibitory synapses.
- Alesia Herasimenka (Inria/LJAD) - Controllability of satellites in periodic orbits with conical constraints on the thrust direction.
This third edition of the Complex Day confirms the great diversity and heterogeneity of the research topics addressed by the complex systems community of Université Côte d'Azur. This annual meeting of the Academy of Complex Systems was once again a success that could not have been achieved without the presence and participation of its scientists.
